Author’s summary: "John talks about you all the time." AU in which the Stargate program has abandoned Atlantis and returned to Earth. Takes place pre-DADT repeal.
Why This Must Be Read: It's a thoughtful post-canon fic from Rodney's Pov in which he and old friends and colleagues he hasn't seen in years are invited to a wedding, leading to an unexpected meeting with John.
The story takes you on a journey through every emotion possible, showing equally the things that Rodney wants and can't have, and things he could have had and didn't see. It's angsty and haunting but also amusing and witty and with a loving, sensitive, and hopeful ending.
