Why This Must Be Read: I'm pretty sure I signed up to rec Sam for this month explicitly so I could rec this fic. Framed around Sam's love for (and subsequent missing of, when on other planets) the stars, blahnicity gets into Sam's head in such a quiet manner, taking us from early SG-1 to Sam's time on Atlantis. The language is flowly and gorgeous, without being overwhelming, and the end is simply perfect.


The cultural quirks, the weird animals, the way Daniel prattles and the disdainful look Teal’c gives MREs all get to be routine, and even the jello creatures that one time don’t seem so strange now, after all these years, but the stars throw her every time. They’re unsettling, like when she was a kid and her brother moved her stuff around and she’d walk in and know something was wrong or different.
