Summary:
Lois gets far more than she bargained for when she's sent
to cover a simple event in Colorado.
Why This Must Be Read:
Lois Lane does SG-1 an unintentional favor...and in return, with a little bit of journalistic persistence, gets a story she can't report. On the one hand, the team is arguably a bit more trusting than they really ought to be - but the author does a good job of showing us that Lois is in fact trustworthy, by way of what she doesn't tell Chloe about her adventure. And the Battle of Antarctica is in fact a good excuse to set Lois on this particular trail. Moreover, we manage the whole thing without bringing Clark in at all, and the chance to see Lois working independently is worth the price of admission.
Snippet of Fic:
“You shouldn’t have left your projection up when you left, Colson,” she scolded. “Everyone in there, they know. You’re going to get your front page story alright.”
He checked her badge pinned to her shirt. “Well, Miss Lane, it doesn’t mean I’m wrong about the aliens.”
“Maybe not, but if you were an actual reporter you’d know you need legitimate proof. Which you didn’t have.”
“Maybe you can help me find some.”
“Nice try.” Lois scoffed, turning away as he grabbed her arm.
“The world deserves to know the truth.”
“If it even is true, they’re not finding out like this.” She stepped on his foot, elbowing his stomach to get him to release her. The security put up a fight, she kicked and swung to fight off Colson and his detail just as a beam came from the ceiling, sweeping her away.
She nearly lost her footing on the dismount, now in a whole new room, facing an office.
“Daniel?” A woman’s voice questioned behind her. “That’s not Colson.”
